Burmese Update; How God Provides…
How God Provides For His People Through His People
This past year of ministry has shown us again how great our God really is and how much He loves us!
After a couple years of partnering with Pastor Peter (the spiritual leader of the Karen people from Myanmar or Burma) TMTY looks again at the providence and provision through this “saga” in the U.S. The Karen people are a group of persecuted Christians who have unjustly been forced to leave their homes, their country and way of life to avoid the violence and murder being imposed on them by their own government/military in Myanmar. They have to be kept in a concentration camp in Thailand until processed out to wherever those in power can find them a safe place. Many have come to the U.S. and are separated from other family members and friends. TMTY and others have been able to help them assimilate here by contributing basic human needs, finances, healthcare, housing, education etc. but it has been a difficult (to say the least) journey for them. Their resilience is in their faith and they have been an inspiration and joy to all of us who have had the privilege to be connected with them. They are hard-working, loving people who are striving to learn the language, get legal citizenship, obtain jobs, driver’s licenses etc. and be a productive element in our society.
In the past year as the mentioned needs have been met and they are supporting each other more strongly every day the pressing need for them is transportation. They still have many who are not working (like so many others in this country) and those who are have to take low paying jobs because of many different reasons. They simply can’t afford to go out and buy a decent reliable car and when the need was brought to my attention, all I could do was look to Heaven and say “Lord, I do not have the resources to supply this need!”
Within 24 hours God supplied the need……Through an organization known as “Cruizers for Christ” (CruizersforChrist.org) we received a nice Honda Civic donated to my family earlier in the year when our family car gave up on us and that next day I had a meeting with Rev. Bob from the St. Barnabas Episcopal Church in Wilmington, DE (stbarnabas.org) who just happened to have a “car ministry” and were in possession of a beautiful Dodge Durango. St. Barnabas made the whole deal happen so the Karen could receive (by their preference) the Honda Civic and my growing family assumed the Dodge. God had all the details covered…Hallelujah!
They still need a couple cars but I know God has already taken care of that in His own special way. Rejoice with us!
