• Brainstorming with the local Navajo Pastors to delve deeply into the “real” needs there. So many have gone before us to address what they perceive as the need and progress has been slow at best. Revival is in the hearts of “the people” but not until they believe in themselves as God’s creation, created for a purpose in His eyes!
• Identify and meet with the point men there. (First the Navajo leaders, local pastors/churches, and missionaries).
• Continue the ‘Great Connnission’, developing discipleship programs that meet the needs and understanding of general Native American population.
• Expand discipleship through developing trust and relationships with the leaders in the Native American community.
• Determine how best to reach the general N. A. population where they are in relationship to Jesus Christ, us, and each other.
• Maintain and grow existing relationships through events, support, training and fellowship
• Plan for an outreach/revival event in late spring, early summer (2011) to create an atmosphere of unity and love for all to attend. We believe this will open doors to the Gospel of salvation for those who are unsaved and refresh, recharge, reenergize and rededicate those who are.

This trip is scheduled for August, 2010 and we need your support for this vital ministry. TMTY needs to raise $4,500 to cover all costs of this outreach and we trust God and His people to provide. There will be fund-raisers and other public opportunities to be involved but we also depend on our regular supporters and new contributors to sow into this ministry. God has deemed it necessary to step up our efforts of evangelism in this country U.S.A. and this is our
area of calling. Won’t you join us?

TMTY has been serving with the CMA in Delaware and New Jersey with concerts/fund raisers, bike blessings and chapel services. We praise God for His presence and increase in these.

On a prayerful note, we have received a disturbing report from our missionary to the Native Americans in the southwest. The challenges in their lives have apparently brought many to a state of hopelessness and despair driving at least five Navajo people to take their own lives. We need to come together in prayer for the missionaries and pastors out there to unite and address this situation. The enemy is hard at work out there on many fronts, too numerous to go into in this newsletter. God has put on our hearts here at TMTY Ministries to organize an outreach revival event to unite the people of the four corner states to come together for the message of God’s love, hope and salvation through music, preaching, teaching and one on one ministry. I quote Edmond Burke when I say “The only thing evil needs to succeed is for good men to do nothing”. We need volunteers for service in many areas. We need much financial support to accomplish all the needed elements. We need much prayer and the grace and provision of God in all things. Please be in prayer as to how God would have you sow into this mission that will happen in August of 2010 (Lord willing). Do not dismiss this thinking someone else will do it. We really need you to join us now.

The events that took place were a culmination of efforts guided by the Holy Spirit over the course of more than two years. While the training occurred over a few days, we are confident that the seeds planted will bear fruits for the Kingdom of God that will be innumerable and everlasting!

In addition to the training conference, we were blessed to meet with missionaries Mark and Gina Morris and witnessed the progress that is being made at the Navajo Christian Leadership Center for Children. Glenn and Robin assisted in the camp review and assessment for future development.  We were also blessed to preach and/or share God’s music and message in churches at Mariano Lake and Farmington, NM.

Along the way, God provided the opportunity to share the gospel with the lost, counsel with the addicted and assist 4 stranded motorists. Three out of four of us even conquered the infamous “Navajo Taco”!

In summary I think Robin Gaskill said it well when she said, “This is like stepping into another country, into another culture, in another time.” That’s why we at TMTY sincerely say “We are blessed to take part in doing foreign mission work right here in the United States.”

Jesus said, “Go into all the world and teach all nations”. Thanks to each and every supporter we were able to do just that…..take the gospel to the Navajo Nation. May God give the increase! We love each one of you and are eternally grateful! Enjoy the pictures herein and praise the Lord!

I want to say PRAISE GOD!!!
HE hung a picture on our hearts more than two years ago. I believe we are walking into that place, into that picture in less than two weeks!
The enemy has tried the same old stale tricks to prevent revival in the Native American culture. He’s a loser! Some people have quit or perhaps were led to do other things. May God bless them. But God placed something in our hearts. What sounded “crazy”, what was questioned with “why are you doing this?”, what we were encouraged to “forget about” is unfolding before our eyes!
There is a place, there is a picture in our minds and on our hearts. I am confident that it was placed there by the Holy Spirit. I am fully persuaded we will see it! God loves us> Jesus paid the full price > The Holy Spirit is our guide!

Hallelujah! He Reigns!

The work has already begun, the battle is already won, and our faith is in the Son….these two Navajo pastors have a thriving church just a few miles from the Navajo Christian Leadership Center and will be instrumental in our efforts in October!

 

Romans 10:13-15
{”13 for “Whoever will call upon the name of the Lord will be saved” 14 How then shall they call upon Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher? 15¬† And how shall they preach unless they are sent?…”¬†}

If you read the preceding words and have been following God’s leading us into the Native American community, you’ll be interested and hopefully joy-filled at God’s blessing on our work together. About two years ago we (Stephen & I) made a trip out to Thoreau, NM to minister to a couple of missionaries who seemed to just want us to bring some preaching and worship music and give them a break from their strenuous routines. That’s when we first met Mark Morris from the Navajo Christian Leadership Center, known to us then as “The Bible Camp” where we found this man and his family diligently reaching out to the Navajo community through the children and youth on¬†a camp that had been vacant for years and in dire need of fixing up. TMTY knew then that God had called us to come alongside of Pastor Mark and lend a hand.

Since that time till today we have been praying for God’s hand on this mission and felt a strong desire to reach the rightful¬†leaders of these people, namely the men. After much work, support and prayers of all receiving this note today we have been able to assist in some of the repairs such as “The Barn Project” which is now finished and ready for year round use, replacing all the old (unuseable) bedding and taking new bunk-beds (very practicle!) and now the camp is still in need of some fixing but much more useable than when we started.

Here’s the exciting part! Pastor Mark Morris has been “called” and¬†given the opportunity to train 50 Navajo pastors (untrained) from the 4 corner states (Colorado, Utah, Arizona & New Mexico) and he has asked TMTY to participate in this awesome mission. The work we’ve done so far was in the spirit of reaching out to the children and God has answered our prayers to reach the leaders of the nation in an amazing way! We are now working on our logistics, budget and team, we need your prayers and tomorrow we will be giving more details and how you can again participate in this work for the Kingdom. Enough for now…

We had a wonderful and inspiring morning of worship with some new friends and family at His Divine Presence in Elkton, MD. We sang , we prayed, and Pastor Jim brought the sermon! What a great start to our trek!

From there we drove 31 hours straight to Amarillo, TX under threats of severe weather. Kevin drove all night and by the grace and protection of God we only got enough rain to clean the bugs off the windshield!. Texas’ big reminder (see the photos of the huge cross!)¬† that He was with us!, we stopped in Amarillo for a meal and a night’s rest.

Tues 6AM we had a “free” breakfast and hit the road for New Mexico and the Navajo Christian Leadership Center and was greeted warmly by Rev. Mark Morris who helped us unload and stack these beds for in the near future use in the camp houses.

With all that done, it was time to high tail it home for my wife’s graduation on Thursday and to preserve my skin! On the way, God showed us His glory, and blessed us with the rainbow and clear travel skies! From the Albequerque Airport to the Philadelphia Airport we were safe at home again. The graduation was exceptional “Kudo’s to Emmie” and she got the loudest applause of all! Check out our crew of celebrators (I am a blessed man!). She is officially a Certified Medical Assistant…Hallelujah! God is Awesome in this place!

These people have been kicked around by government, and haters for generations and quite understandably don’t trust us. They live with much fear and trepidation on reservations out west and quite frankly they have just been overlooked and forgotten. Working within the culture we have met some absolutely wonderful missionaries and believers in their community that gives us a little common ground to work from.

In these photos from our first visit we met Roy Hawthorne, Navajo, U.S. Marine/ American Hero, World War II Code Talker, Medal of Honor recipient, who currently helps pastor Tsesiani Church (Navajo for Solid Rock) in Houck, AZ. And hosts a Gospel radio show on a secular station that broadcasts every week in Navajo. His son Regan Hawthorne is the pastor of Tsesiani and they are in the process of opening a Christian School for the Navajo children in a fashion that the families can afford it. Through the marketing of Code Talker Coffee and related products (Delicious by the way) and contributions they hope to open in 2009.

TMTY is investigating other sources of financing for them through grants etc. but anyone with a heart for this mission is welcome to contribute. Contact information will be provided by link soon. You will also see Crosslands Bible Camp here and our friend and missionary Mark Morris in Thoreau, NM. Mark and his beautiful family live at the camp and are endeavoring to make this a year round facility for the community children and youth to come and be nurtured, taught and loved for who they are. The Barn project will be an indoor facilty/ game room / classroom etc. We are attempting to find financing and construction help for this one! Let us know how you can help.
